He was born in Yen Embang, Jembrana, Bali in 1969. He is a graduate of the Indonesia Arts Institute in Denpasar, Bali. He is considered as one of the notable Modern Balinese style painters, whereby his works has opened a new window into the way we view at the nature around us. Painting in the abstract style, his paintings always clearly illustrates his beloved motherland. There is no limit to his imagination and expression, always free – as if in mysterious silence. And this has become the unique character of Ketut Susena’s art. In 1997, when he was still a student, his works were showcased in a collaborative exhibition with Made Hantaguna at Gallery Hadiprana in Jakarta. In the same year, he was voted as a finalist for the Phillips Morris Indonesian Art Awards. Between 2008-2009, his work was featured in a year-long solo exhibition titled “Grand Wing of Silence” at the Han Lin Gallery in Beijing. His works has also been featured in an exhibition to commemorate the 40th Anniversary of Galeri Hadiprana, Jakarta in 2002 and a join exhibition with Made Supena at the Museum fur Volkerkunde in Frankfurt, Germany. In 2008, Ketut Susena showcased his art in a solo exhibition at the Galeri Nasional (National Gallery) in Jakarta.
